Two strands of 4-point barbed wire are laid in-between every row of bags. The barbed wire acts as a hook and latch mortar that provides tensile strength which inhibits the walls from being pulled apart.
The 4-point barbed wire is held down temporarily with bricks or rocks until the next row of bags is laid (shown right).
A more sophisticated method of securing the barbed wire during construction is by using suspended brick weights, featured in our book Earthbag Building, the Tools, Tricks and Techniques.
